In this soundscape (20m12s) Embers explore the isolation, alienation, discomfort and disenfranchisement of women intrinsically linked to the drainage of the Fens and the subsequent damage to rural communities in Fenland. The piece is based around a traditional English folk song found in the back of Mary Chamberlain’s Fenwomen book; Old Thyme, or more popularly known as Let No Man Steal Your Thyme.
